“ Delicious, fresh vegan food. The lemongrass chicken is a must. Except for the shape of the chikken, I would not know it was vegan meat. I also had #19, the bowl of vermicelli with greens, egg roll, and grilled vegan meat, with fish sauce. This restaurant is in a --sorry--run-down mostly industrial section, someplace I would not have approached without the good Yelp reviews. But inside the retro, plain diner was spotless, the staff quick and efficient. If you want to try vegan Vietnamese food, this is a great option. ”
“ the vegan food here is amazing! flavorful and delicious. the service is top notch, super friendly workers. the bun hue is my favorite. definitely recommend! not too many people despite going on a weekend; there are many table accommodations and people usually just eat and go. the staff works fast to clean the table and serve the food right away. ”
“ The service here was exceptional and the food incredible! I tried the Bun Hue and tofu spring rolls, both were delicious. Will definitely be back. ”
“ Small little place with great service and do ours food. It's in a nondescript plaza/strip mall of sorts. Parking: easy peasy Hainan chicken dish: the rice is flavored, but I can't put my finger on with what. Definitely reminiscent of the oil rice that comes with regular Hainan chicken. A... lemon grass rice also very good. The sauce is divine. There's enough greenery on the side as well, so it's both heavy and balanced. Definitely will revisit ”
“ Hidden and tucked in an unassuming strip mall, Thien Tam exceeds in quality vegetarian (mostly vegan) Vietnamese cuisine. They are SO TALENTED in recreating and transforming Vietnamese dishes that are based on fish and meat into its vegan equivalent. Vegetarian, let alone vegan, bun rieu and bun mam is so hard to create. They even exceed in taste most of its non-vegetarian counterparts. Their pho ap chao is highly addictive and delicious. I highly recommend trying these three dishes and their other offerings. The employees are great at their job, and can explain all their dishes with great depth. If you have any allergies or concerns, they are extremely knowledgeable to help you. ”
“ This place was amazing!! Everything was so flavorful, fresh and delicious! After just trying three dishes, I would consider trying every single thing off of their menu! #12 on the menu was a wonton soup with egg noodles and wow, the noodles were the perfect flavor and texture! They had multiple different types of protein in the soup too, three to be exact! The broth was very flavorful without being too salty. I highly recommend trying this dish! #20 on the menu was a delicious rice noodle salad. That would be the perfect dish on a hot summer day, but also on any day cuz it was just that good. #22 on the menu was a great entree dish with rice, pickled veggies, and lemongrass chicken. The perfect balance of flavor and freshness. And the rice was cooked to a perfect texture, like almost al dente. Not only was the food amazing, they had very good portion sizes for the price! I really felt like I got the most bang for my buck! The portions were so big that I couldn't even finish one plate of food! As for the restaurant space, it is on the smaller size and the largest party they could fit at a table would be 8. The atmosphere was very casual and quiet. The service was great, the wait staff was friendly and the food came out fast! I highly recommend trying this place!! ”
“ The to-go food was good. Their lemon grass chicken is my favorite. It still tasted good even after reheating it. ”
“ They have Vietnamese vegetarian dishes here that are very tasty. Prices are fair ($15~ an entree). Customer service is very friendly. The inside is cute and looks like was upgraded/redesigned since i last visited. Cute paintings and lamps with a checkerboard floor. They have several big tables. Some of our favorite items are their chow mein and hainan chicken rice. We love their hainan chicken rice which comes with veggie chicken (fried) with flavored rice, and some cucumbers and pickled veggies with a side of ginger sauce. You can call to order ahead. The food is prepared pretty quickly. This vegetarian place has buddhist vegetarian food (no onion, no garlic, no chives, no meat). Great vegetarian place in the SGV. They have some pre packed items like veggie jerkey and veggie spring rolls. They accept credit card and apple pay! ”
“ This is one of my spots I go to when I'm craving vegetarian food in the SGV. Eveything is simple and fresh, they do a great job at making popular Chinese/Vietnamese dishes to be vegetarian-friendly! I ordered the Hainan Chicken, everything was good but the sauce was a little bland for my liking. However, the crispiness from the chicken with the pickled radish/carrots made up for it. Paired with the fresh spring salad and soup on the side, this dish was well-balanced and delicious. The restaurant itself and the parking lot is small, so it started to get crowded when I went during lunch time. However the service is fast and I would recommend trying this place if you want a vegetarian twist on traditional Chinese/Vietnamese dishes! ”
“ This review is long long overdue. I've been coming here ever since it first opened in El Monte, when it was just an elderly couple cooking and waiting tables! This is definitely at least a decade ago. However, now, I'm glad they have other family members and younger folks to wait tables. This is one of my go-to vegetarian restaurants. It gives a cozy and home-y atmosphere, and feels like you are eating beautifully homemade cozy food from your own family members. They offer a variety of vegetarian dishes on their menu with mostly Vietnamese cuisine. I feel like you can never go wrong with their Bun hue or pho chay, bun rieu, or even bun mam because those are all very aromatic! I have had their rice dishes and stir fried noodle dishes, but I tend to lean towards their noodle soups! I haven't gotten their hainan chicken before, but looking at the other reviews and pictures, I will get that next time! I will say, I am a huge fan of 'Bi Cuon' which are vegetarian julienne "pork" spring rolls and its nuoc cham ("fish sauce" dipping sauce) is not as flavorful as I would hope. Also, I rarely order take out because I like sitting in the restaurant. It's clean and service is friendly! During the pandemic, I did order take-out a couple times to continue to support this small business! ”
